Erasmus+ Study Language Proficiency Assessment

What is the Erasmus+ Language Proficiency Assessment?

The Language Proficiency Assessment for Erasmus+ Study Mobility is a test designed to assess the language skills required to participate in international mobility programmes.

The assessment is conducted as an adaptive test and lasts approximately 40 minutes. The proficiency level achieved is determined exclusively by the number of correct answers provided by the student during the test.

Structure and Features of the Erasmus+ Language Test

The Erasmus+ language test is designed to assess receptive language skills, focusing on three areas:

  • Grammar: knowledge of grammatical structures.
  • Reading: written text comprehension.
  • Listening: spoken language comprehension.

Different types of exercises alternate throughout the assessment, with a progressively increasing level of difficulty. The test places students within a numerical score band corresponding to their language proficiency level at the time of the assessment.

Assessment Method and Test Results

At the end of the allotted time, the test automatically closes, and the system processes the answers in real time, providing the result immediately.

The assessment uses a Progress Test format. On the final screen, the student's current proficiency level is not displayed. Instead, the system shows the next level to be achieved.

For the purpose of determining language proficiency, only the number of correct answers is taken into account. This determines the student's placement within a numerical score band associated with their actual language proficiency level.
